Loading...In October 2011, Resurrection Episcopal Church will launch a pilot program for Karen and Karenni students primarily from our church families. The program will be on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons after school and will include homework help and tutoring, worship, and a light meal, followed by a youth activity.
Episcopal churches and others in the community who are interested in this ministry will join us to provide staffing. Corin Hooper (626-755-3302) from California is one of the interns working in our diocese from the New Seeds Intern Program with the Episcopal Church. He and our deacon, Mary Abrams (502-572-0356) are our dynamic duo, leading the program. “Help” will be committing time from 3 to 7 pm on some Tuesdays or Thursdays beginning in early October. Our volunteers will 1) provide homework help and tutoring in the English language and other subjects for middle and high school students, 2) bring simple supper for the youth and adult helpers, or 3) organize a small group of friends to simplify transportation and make the afternoon even more fun. Financial support in any amount is always welcomed to provide for the program.
