Vestry and Delegates

by Virginia Woodward

Resurrection delegates to the annual convention will be Ron Christensen and Veronica Woodruff. Alternates are Cuba Robinson and Bobby Woodruff. Our youth delegate is James Mentee. The Annual Convention of the Diocese of Kentucky will meet at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Anchorage February 23-24. The theme this year is Embracing Christ, Engaging the World. Several dynamics have come together to make 2007 a unique year for the new vestry. Because of the difficulty of finding vestry members each year, the vestry voted to reduce the vestry size from twelve to ten. In order to accommodate larger Sudanese presence, the number of Sudanese representatives has been increased from two to three. Since the vestry rotated three members off in 2007, it meant there were no elections needed for the non-Sudanese members of the 2007 vestry.

The seven existing non-Sudanese members are Josie Smith, Natalie Scharre, Fred Banks, Diane Mott, Carol Cameron, Ron Christensen, and Harry Edington. The Sudanese vestry members are Daniel Kuol, Chairman of the Sudan Congregation, Jacob Aker, Deputy Chairman Sudanese, and Peter Goch, Secretary of the Sudan Congregation. The fourth Sudanese officer, not on the vestry, is Alier Mareet, Deputy Secretary.

Vestry Goals

1. to expand our Children' ministries.

2. to create a greater unity in the parish

3. to face financial realities
